Hi, I'm Colton...

Looking back over my life, I have this deep sense of appreciation and joy when I reflect on how many of my most treasured memories center around food and the experiences my family have created together.

The Memories Made

There's many moments centered around food that I treasure to this day. Like coming down to my grandmother's kitchen on a sunny morning filled with the scent of her lemon bread, the Christmas traditions like our Strawberry Jello Pretzel salad and lil smokies that we still make to this day, the memorable birthday celebrations with rainbow bread, a Lego cake, rainbow jello, and strawberry sheet cake - just a few key memories regarding birthdays - the New Year's spreads with pinwheels, Chex mix, and Doritos with avocado dip that we still continue to this day, and so many other holidays and special occasions where food played a central role.

My mom taught me to cook and bake when I was young, and through my teenage years I experimented with creating my own desserts. Looking back, I realize my happy memories had less to do with the perfect baked good and more to do with the experience and time we shared together.

That's my goal with The Baker's Life is to help families create those special times where you're all together, having fun, and enjoying the food you've made.

Where it all began...

Here's how I got here:

  • 2014 - I started a group for teens to talk about cooking and baking
  • 2014 - About a month later, I also started a blog for teens focused on cooking and baking
  • 2017 - I created a new blog specifically for The Baker's Life, with a redirection towards baking specifically
  • 2018 - I launched this online store

What drives me now is helping families create those same food-centered moments that filled my childhood with such joy. Through The Baker's Life, I offer baking tools and am working on creating kits that bring families together around the experiences that happen when you share what you've made.

What The Baker's Life Is All About

We exist to bring joy and connection into people's lives through baking — sparking smiles, turning simple moments into meaningful memories, and inspiring those moments when families gather around something homemade.

I believe baking is more than food — it's a way to build experiences that matter. Whether it's a pie shared over a game of chess or cookies made together on a rainy afternoon, these moments become the memories our children will treasure.

Right now, I offer a range of baking tools - everything from cookie cutters and decorating guides to pie plates and cake tools. But my vision goes beyond just selling products. I'm working on creating experience bundles and kits that help families connect around the joy of sharing what they've made together.

The Heart of It All

I want to help more families discover the joy that comes from gathering around something homemade. Building genuine community is important to me, and I believe in being real and authentic with the people I serve. I care deeply about delivering the best value and service I can. When you shop with The Baker's Life, you're not just buying baking tools - you're joining a community that believes in the power of homemade moments to create lasting memories.

Whether you're a seasoned baker or just starting out, my hope is that The Baker's Life can help you create those same feelings of joy and togetherness that filled my own childhood. Picture your kids years from now remembering the smell of lemon bread on a sunny morning, or the whole family gathered around your homemade pie at the Thanksgiving table. It's not about perfect technique, but that can still make it even more amazing - it's about being present with the people you love.
